Welcome To The Baseball Storyteller

I love a great baseball story. It can be a story about a baseball stadium in Florida or a baseball player from the 1950s or a fundraiser happening this weekend. Over the past few decades, I have been lucky enough to visit quite a few baseball fields, interview players, and experience the thrill of hundreds of live baseball games. I write and share stories as a lifelong fan of the game of baseball. My name is Noel P. Roby and I welcome you to experience the game of baseball through my experiences, my interviews, my stadium visits, and my unique storyteller blog. Welcome to the Baseball Storyteller.

Baseball stories come alive!!! I will be hosting a baseball fan show and tell event this upcoming January 17th in Virginia Beach. The event will take place at Bayside Library, Independence Blvd, Virginia Beach from 11am to 12 Noon. Here is the information about the event:

Baseball Fan Show and Tell Event So honored to meet Murray State University's Coach Steve Adkins and share his amazing tribute of Siena College's former Baseball HC Tony Rossi. Rossi coached an impressive 53 years in the Siena College program and his impact spans thousands of players, coaches, families, and community members. You have to read this piece by Coach Adkins on his former HC, it is must read baseball knowledge X 10000! Head over to the Baseball Storyteller and learn how legendary Coach Tony Rossi is!!! A snowy and very satisfying walk around Joe Medwick Park this morning. The snow has covered the football fields and tennis courts and baseball fields, as it should in December in NJ. The walking trail was plowed, so I took full advantage, circling the park a few times as the NJ Temps rose from the morning teens. Fun morning in Carteret, NJ. I was gutted to see the horrific news over the past 24 hours at Providence, RI's Brown University. Watching it from six states away, the news of the on-campus incident really hit home. I know the area very well, I know the campus very well, and visited often as a youth and adult. My thoughts and best wishes go out to all the Brown University, East Side of Providence, and Thayer Street community members dealing with this tragedy. Starting in January, 2026 I will be hosting a series of show and tell events featuring some of my cool baseball memorabilia. And I want you to invite you to come and join me and share your cool baseball stuff as well. More information to follow in the weeks to come. First event is in Virginia Beach, VA at Bayside Library. Message me for more information. My snowman friend dropped this beauty off for me today. I've seen the movie enough to quote it almost scene by scene. Now, I get to read how the story became the legend that is "The Natural." Pretty psyched is a slight understatement. Let's go Roy Hobbs!!! Just about finished reading this fantastic baseball book, "Baseball's Great Expectations," by Patrick Montgomery. I recognize a bunch of players mentioned in the book, and have been thinking about what the late, great Dave Stenhouse once told me. "It's really hard making into the Major Leagues, let alone starring and staying there." This book personifies that statement wonderfully for the group of can't miss prospects depicted the book. Great read! What are some of the best signs at a baseball field? Well, start off with Game Today. How about the "Beware of Flying Objects" or "Do Not Drive or Park on the Bricks" or maybe a motivational poster about being a good fan. I put together a photo gallery of signs that caught my attention over the years. Check it out on my website, The Baseball Storyteller. Oak Grove is fast becoming one of my favorite parks in Hampton Roads. A park for all seasons, Oak Grove offers a 1.5 flat hiking trail that is great for walkers, joggers, 4 legged friends, kids, and active older adults. The fall colors, wow, a million wonderful views.

In my baseball experience journey, I have been lucky enough to attend games as far northwest as Tacoma, Washington and as far south as Houston, Texas as far north as Milwaukee, Wisconsin and as far east as Fenway Park, Boston, Massachusetts. I was thrilled to see the sites and sounds of JetBlue Park in Fort Myers, Florida. And catch the Portland SeaDogs at Hadlock Field in Portland, Maine. And tour the amazing Angels Stadium known to most as “The Big A” Anaheim, California. No matter where I travel, I always love to visit a baseball field – big or small, pro or Little League, high school or Tee Ball.
